With municipal support, the Waterbury Community Development Committee spearheaded creation of Waterbury's web site originally and has since worked with Steve Lotspeich, Waterbury's Community Planner to maintain and now expand its use. WCDC's mission is supporting the Waterbury community and its businesses. Carol O'Neill, WCDC Chair says, "The web site is an important communications vehicle for Waterbury. It can be more than it is today and this is one of the goals of the redesign effort. We're very pleased about the collaboration and great work that you see in the redesign work."
The web site redesign in 2004 was initiated to make the site more user-friendly and to minimize monthly maintenance time; to enhance the site's professionalism; and ultimately, expand the use of the web site to better support Waterbury businesses and organizations. One logo for Waterbury helps establish a common community theme and the tag line: "Just what you're looking for!" perfectly captures the spirit of Waterbury. Individuals, organizations and local business have pulled together on this project. The many hours of hard work are reflected in the great web site you see.
The Waterbury Tourism Council developed the Waterbury logo being used on the new site. WTC has kindly given permission for use of that logo for the community web site.
Laura Parette LauraParette.com designed the logo for the Waterbury Tourism Council (WTC) and has been the design arm of the redesign team.
